Oris reveals their lighter side this Spring with their new ProPilot X Kermit Edition. In collaboration with Disney’s The Muppets, the Kermit Edition guarantees to inject some joy into your daily life.
Kermit Day
Kermit appears on ‘Kermit Day’ – the first of the month. Oris encourage us to “find the joy” explaining that the idea of this gentle, humorous touch is to encourage us “not to take life too seriously”. To look up, smile and do something we enjoy, something fun. That might take five minutes. A moment of quiet reflection for some. For others, a cup of coffee, a phone call, a bath, a short walk. Even the dial is the exact same shade of green as Mr ‘The Frog’ himself.
Some may not get it, but I’ve gotta tell you: I think I may well be Oris’ target customer for this one. As as child of the late 70’s/early 80’s, the Muppets was without doubt, my favourite TV show. I tuned in every week on a wooden-cased TV with just 3 channels, singing the theme tune at the top of my voice and not caring who heard me. My Kermit toy sat of the end of my bed for years, his long arms and legs with velcro attached to his hands and feet. This meant he could conveniently hang from the bed post, a curtain pole, wherever. He was just hanging out. So yeah, this watch does make me smile!
What’s Under the Dial?
Under the Kermit-green dial, Oris has fitted the watch with its innovative in-house movement – the calibre 400. Six years in development, it makes three key performance promises: anti magnetic, five day power reserve and a 10 year warranty. Read more about the Calibre 400 here.
Case, Water Resistance, Bracelet
The titanium case is a functional 39mm in diameter and has a signature turbine bezel. This suggests fast motion which is apt for a pilot watch. Additionally it’s water resistant to 10 bars (100m) and has a large easy grip screw-down crown. This is oversized to allow for use when wearing gloves. Similarly, the see-through caseback also screws-in and allows a fantastic view of the movement in action. Finally, the multi-piece titanium bracelet is comfortable to wear and so light, you’ll hardly know you’re wearing it. A folding clasp with Oris’ patented lift mechanism, ensures security.

Verdict and Where to Buy: Oris ProPilot X Kermit Edition
All in all, the Oris ProPilot X Kermit Edition is a great looking watch that’s appeals to anyone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously. However, with its innovative movement and high spec, it’s not a watch for muppets.
Priced at £3,700, the Oris ProPilot X Kermit Edition is available to buy from an Independent retailer here.
