All the new men’s watches featured in our Edit are available now from an Independent Retailer via watchspecialists.com.
1. Best 2021 Men’s Watch from BULOVA: Devil Diver Oceanographer
With its 1970’s styling and bright orange dial, we love the Bulova Devil Diver. From the Archive Series, it’s a tribute to an original Bulova design. Printed with “666 feet” on the dial, the original Oceanographer (or Snorkel Watch) earned itself the nickname “Devil Diver”. We love how Bulova has remained true to the original. Even the cylindrical hour markers filled with lume are a detail taken from the original watch. Water resistant to 200m, the watch has an automatic Miyota movement. Also, priced at £469, it is a sub £500 watch with a cool, retro vibe.
2. Best 2021 Men’s Watch from CITIZEN: Promaster 200m Divers Watch
The Citizen Promaster 200m Divers Watch is such great value for money, it just had to feature in our Edit of the Best New 2021 Men’s Watches. There are a few new versions available in the series this year. However, at £269, we love the new BN0155-08E with its black dial and green uni-directional bezel. Furthermore, for £279, you could opt for the BN0152-06E with gold tone stainless steel case. Unusual for a dive watch, the combination of gold case and black dial and strap looks pretty cool. With Eco-Drive movements powered by light, think of the money you’ll save on batteries.
3. Best 2021 Men’s Watch from MICHEL HERBELIN: Newport Heritage Diver Automatic
With its 42mm cushion-shaped case, there’s a lot to like about the Newport Heritage Diver Automatic. Available in either black or blue, we love the blue version: 1774/BL15CB. This latest incarnation of the popular Newport collection, sees a reimagining of a heritage design from the company’s back catalogue.
The bezel is in blue ceramic and the blue dégradé dial is a nice touch. Additionally, the blue strap is made from FKM rubber and is so durable that it is offered with its own 10 year warranty. An exhibition caseback reveals the Swiss Sellita movement working away inside. Priced at £1,150.00, the Newport Diver is a beautifully made watch where nothing has been left to chance.
4. Best New Watch from ORIS: Aquis Date calibre 400 41.5mm
Although there have been a number of great launches this year from Oris, our pick for the Edit has to be the Aquis Date Calibre 400 with 41.5mm case. The Calibre 400 is simply a game-changer and it’s high up on any watch lover’s wish list this Christmas. Without getting too techy (read our article on the calibre 400 to find out more), the movement is so advanced that Oris offer it with an incredible 10 Year Warranty. The 41.5mm is a new, smaller case size for 2021. Water resistant to 300m, it’s a Dive Watch and more. Priced at £2,700.00, it’s an engineering masterpiece.
5. Best New Watch from MONDAINE: Classic 40mm Bracelet Watch
From Swiss brand Mondaine, we love the new Classic 40mm Bracelet Watch. With a brushed finish bracelet and and the iconic Swiss Railways dial, it’s the perfect fusion of classic and contemporary style. Priced at £225, it’s a great value for a Swiss watch too.
6. Best New Watch from SEIKO PRESAGE: Blue Acapulco Cocktail Time Watch
The Seiko Presage Blue Acapulco Watch has made it into our Edit of the Best New 2021 Men’s Watches. From the popular Cocktail Time collection, it has a stunning blue textured dial. Also, an open heart aperture reveals a window into the movement. Turn the watch over and the entire movement is revealed through the exhibition caseback. Priced at £430, it’s an elegant timepiece that stands out from the crowd.
7. Best New 2021 Watch from SEIKO PROSPEX: “Tortoise” Land Edition
New for 2021, the “Tortoise” is based on the popular “Turtle” diving watch. Both named for the shell-like profile of their case, the “Tortoise” is a land-based version. Consequently, it features a rotating compass bezel. Also, it’s water resistant to 200m with an automatic movement. We love the black version SRPG17K1 with its rose gold detailing. However, the Khaki SRPG13K1 and Navy SRPG15K1 are on our list of favourites too. Priced at £490, the Tortoise Land Edition is a practical watch that really looks the part.
