The revival of a historic watch brand; a well-known and much loved British watch brought back to life by the grandson of the original founder.
Inspired by the original Prestex Art Deco dress watch, Verimatic uses the same numerals and rail-track around the dial. The quality and reliability of the Verimatic is exceptional, as defined by the word itself. Verimatic is a combination of “veritas” – the Latin word for “truth” – and “automatic”, describing the incredibly reliable automatic movement that has been specified to the brand's exact requirements.
The Quartz Chronograph is a contemporary interpretation of another original Prestex classic. Ultra-reliable and super accurate, it is fitted with a cutting-edge Miyota 6S21 movement, selected for its precision and durability. A robust timepiece, it is constructed using only the best materials such as its 316L stainless steel case. Furthermore, the Horween Leather strap is padded and durable as well as sporty. Also, the screw-down crown and case back ensure water-resistance to over 100 metres.
The Bolton Watch collection from Duckworth Prestex is a true reflection of the brand's heritage. It evokes the original 1924 pocket watch that began the whole Prestex story. Three different versions are available: a three hand timepiece, a 'small seconds' timepiece and a chronograph.
To mark the 100th anniversary of the first Prestex pocket watch, Duckworth Presex have unveiled a Centenary Watch. A modern recreation of a 1935 Art Deco Prestex dress watch, the new watch is a true heritage piece.
At Watch Specialists, we offer the full collection of original branded Duckworth Prestex straps. Each strap has been specifically designed to complement the watches in the range. Available in either 20mm or 22m, they fit each watch to perfection. Firstly, in traditional Horween Leather, there is a wonderful choice of earthy tones including Dark Green, Dark Brown and Grey. Alternatively, opt for an elegant Italian Suede Leather strap in colours such as Oceania Blue and Lion Beige. Finally, a NATO strap is a cost-effective way to add an instant update.
Neil Duckworth, the founder of Duckworth Prestex Watches, is a well-known figure in the UK watch industry. Famous for bringing TAG-Heuer to the UK in the 1980s, his family firm, Prestons, has its roots in Bolton. Founded in 1869 by Neil’s grandfather, Frank Duckworth, Prestons Jewellers started making their own watches in the 1920s.
The watches were sold under the name PRESTEX. They included chronographs, pocket watches and some stunning dress watches. These were sold all over the world. However, from the late 1940s, Prestons started selling more and more Swiss brands such as Omega and Rolex. Consequently, by the 1960s the home-grown Prestex brand had been quietly discontinued.
Today, Neil is realising a long-held ambition to revive his family’s brand. Now with the name Duckworth Prestex, the English designed watches take their inspiration from the original Prestex models that came before them.
There are two watches on sale initially: a quartz chronograph and an automatic. Each comes in three colours: green, blue and black for the chronograph. Also, blue, black and orange for the automatic – called a Verimatic – with its distinctive fumé dials.
It’s clear to see the heritage of the two designs and why they embody the Prestex DNA.
