The epitome of Swiss precision and styling, Mondaine watches owe their distinct look to the design of the Official Swiss Railways Clock. The design was created by Hans Hilfiker in 1944. In the mid 1980’s, company owners – the Bernheim family, obtained the licence to produce a wristwatch version of the famous design. Mondaine watches are still made under this licence today and are known as the Official Swiss Railways Watch.
The iconic Mondaine style is recognisable by the red second hand and plain monochrome dial. The hour and minute markers are chunky and give the dial a graphic look. Whilst the brand has stayed true to these design roots, the collection has evolved. Consequently, it now includes smart enabled watches that monitor sleep and movement. Also PayChip TM technology. Additionally, the collection includes the Vintage Handwinder with mechanical hand-wound movement and finally the unique Stop2GO model. This has the Swiss Railway clock feature of a two second pause every minute to enable absolute precision.
