Mühle-Glashütte Watches were originally known as a producer of high precision, measuring instruments for the local watchmaking and maritime industries. Founded in 1869 by Robert Mühle in the town of Glashütte, Germany, the move towards the production of time measuring devices came in the 1930’s. This was to meet the demand for car and motorcycle clocks. As war loomed closer, the workshops were called upon to produce clocks for military use. As the decades rolled on, the family continued to work for the company although various owners dictated the nature of the products that were created.

In 1980, the fourth generation of the Mühle family changed the direction of the workshops. Consequently, the focus became on maritime systems and chronometers. After the reunification of Germany in 1990, production could reach further. Therefore the company were ideally placed when asked by a shipyard client to produce wristwatches. A collection of men’s diving watches was created.

From this initial demand, the Mühle Glashütte workshops went on to produce their own movements and watches with a unique style and functionality. Using their marine knowledge throughout the design process, Mühle Glashütte have become specialists in creating high precision wearable instruments. Today, the Mühle-Glashütte Watches collection consists of Nautical wristwatches, Classic timepieces, Sports Instrument watches and selected limited editions.
