The story of Seiko Watches began in 1881 with the creation of a new watch and jewellery shop in Ginza, Tokyo. This was the seed from which the Seiko empire would grow. Kintarō Hattori was the owner and in 1892 clocks were produced under the new name Seikosha. By 1924 the name was shortened to the familiar trademark SEIKO that we know today (meaning “exquisite” or “success” in Japanese).

Seiko are a company of firsts; from the production of the first wristwatch in 1913 (converted from the popular pocket watch), to the production of the first ever automatic quartz the 1980’s (which was re-launched it in 1991 as the familiar Seiko Kinetic). Between these milestones, Seiko can also lay claim to launching the first ever quartz (battery operated) watch – the Astron, in 1969 and the first ever quartz chronograph.

Today, Seiko Watches still one combine high technical prowess with the use of the highest quality materials. Striking this balance results in a ground-breaking and newsworthy collection, with an undeniable aesthetic that pushes them to the top of many must-have lists.
