With genuine links to the U.S. military, the Bulova A-11 Hack Military Watch is a recreation of a watch Bulova produced for Allied soldiers in WWII. Known as “the watch that won the war”, this simple field watch was both rugged and durable as well as supremely legible and easy to use.
The “Hack” watch has a hacking seconds function. If you pull the crown out, the second hand stops. Consequently, it was possible for groups of soldiers to synchronise watches. Although commonplace today, this was a new feature in the 1940’s.
Hack: Dial, Case, Strap
The A-11 was designed to be discreet and unobtrusive. Whereas the 98A255 model has a black dial and 38mm dark grey case, this new version has a 37mm silver tone case and blue dial. Also, it has a distinctive coin edge pattern around the edge of the case to the front and back which adds to the vintage feel. Additionally, the dial is easy to read in poor light with white Super-LumiNova numbers. Furthermore, a white minute track at the outer edge aids legibility. Similarly, the hour and minute hands are also coated in white Super-LumiNova. Moreover, a red seconds hand stands out against the blue dial.
Finally, a vintage style dark brown nylon NATO strap completes the look. Although only part of the strap goes under the case, the design makes it really comfortable to wear. Additionally, the pin buckle and metal hardware on the strap are in silver tone stainless steel to complement the case.
