Lunar Pilot Chronograph Blood Moon

New for 2024, the Bulova Lunar Pilot Archive Series Chronograph is now available with Bulova’s exclusive high precision quartz movement. With a frequency of 262 kHz, it operates at a higher frequency than most quartz or mechanical movements which results in increased precision. Also, it means that the chronograph hand and running seconds hand have the same sweeping motion normally associated with an automatic movement.

Case, Dial & Bracelet

With a 43.5mm stainless steel case, the Bulova Lunar Pilot Archive Series Chronograph is the same size as the original watch. Additionally, true to the original design, the chronograph pushers follow the shape of the case. Finally, engraving on the caseback commemorates the Apollo 15 mission with details of the specific EVA during which Scott wore the original watch.

Under the flat sapphire crystal, the six-hand chronograph dial is presented in a unique red and silver “panda” style, with a vibrant red inspired by the tone of the moon during a total lunar eclipse, sometimes referred to as a “blood moon” (view silver dial version here). A tachymetre scale around the outside edge is stepped up from the centre of the dial. Moreover, in keeping with the original, the Bulova logo is the version from the 70’s. Finally, the quick-release solid link brushed stainless steel bracelet has a folding clasp with double push button release. The watch also comes with an interchangeable black leather NATO strap.

Bulova and Apollo 15
