What is Saffiano Leather?

The term ‘Saffiano’ comes from the Italian process of ‘Saffianare’. This refers to the cross-hatch design that is pressed into the wax that coats the calfskin leather. This wax coating adds a layer of protection against water and stains, further enhancing the durability of the leather. It also imparts a subtle sheen to the leather, enhancing its luxurious aesthetic. As a result, the leather is highly scratch resistant, durable and exceptionally easy to keep clean.

Historically, Saffiano leather was first made in one of Italy’s most famous tanneries was a signature and patent of established design house Prada. Over the years, other high-end brands also adopted Saffiano leather, recognising its unique blend of elegance and practicality.

The Eleganza strap features precision stitching around the edges which matches the colour of the leather. Additionally, the strap has a premium nubuck lining which is soft to the touch. Finally, the stainless steel buckle has a brushed finish.
