With its roots in sailing watches, Newport takes it’s name from the America’s Cup and the Race to Newport, Rhode Island. Consequently, it boasts many nautical design features. Firstly, the round case takes its inspiration from the shape of port-holes. Secondly, the bezel of the Newport Diamond Dial Watch has five rivets which is a reference to boat construction. It’s also engraved with the Newport name along the bottom of the case. Additionally, the engraved caseback features the elegant Newport ship’s wheel motif. Similarly, the ship’s wheel is also embossed on the crown. Furthermore, a practical polished and brushed stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp secures the watch to the wrist (view leather strap version here).
