The Junghans Max Bill Automatic Watch takes it’s name from one of the most extraordinary designers of the last century. An architect, painter and sculptor, Max Bill taught at the world famous Bauhaus design school in Dessau. Following the Bauhaus design principles of utility, functionality and good design, Bill began designing watches for Junghans in 1961. To this day, Max Bill watches have remained largely unchanged by Junghans and still demonstrate Bill’s love of clean lines and legibility.
Case, Dial
Firstly, with a 38mm stainless steel case, the Junghans Max Bill Automatic watch has a large dial opening. The case is pared-back with minimal bezel. Consequently, the time is the focus of the watch rather than what is surrounding it. Secondly, designed with legibility and accuracy in mind, the dial is silver-plated with printed indexes. Additionally, the hour markers are taken to the extreme outer edge of the dial to draw the eye in to the time. Furthermore, the narrow hands and hour markers are shaped for precision. Also, an environmentally friendly luminous substance coats the hands to ensure legibility in poor light conditions.
Movement
Equipped with a reliable J800.1 automatic movement, the watch has a power reserve of up to 38 hours. Finally, a supple black leather strap provides the finishing touch and a stainless steel pin buckle secures it to the wrist.

After purchasing a used SAR rescue timer, I required the additional rubber strap and matching clasp.
Found that Watch Specialist supplied them so was happy to order one from their nice website and they kept me up to date with a delivery time etc.
