The max bill Automatic 100 Year Bauhaus Anniversary watch from Junghans is a chance to own a piece of art history. 2019 saw the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus design school. Thanks to Max Bill who taught at the Bauhaus and subsequently designed watches for the German brand, Junghans have a special affinity with the Bauhaus style and philosophy. To celebrate this milestone, Junghans have produced this special max bill automatic watch limited to only 1,000 pieces.
Bauhaus design features
Junghans have gone to great lengths to ensure that this watch “bears the fundamental ideas ingrained in the very fabric of the Bauhaus”. The white dial commemorates the white walls of the Bauhaus building in Dessau and the anthracite grey case represents the striking facade. The grey leather strap takes its inspiration from concrete: the construction element of the Bauhaus. Red accents on the hands and date wheel mirror the colour of the prominent entrance door of the famous design school. The caseback allows the wearer to view the workings of the automatic movement within through a printed motif of the windows of the Bauhaus. Just the famous front door is picked out in red.
