The Junghans Women’s Max Bill Watch takes it’s name from one of the most extraordinary designers of the last century. An architect, sculptor and product designer, Max Bill studied at the Bauhaus in Dessau. His association with Junghans began in the 1950’s when he was commissioned to design a kitchen clock for the company. In 1961, Max Bill started to design purist watches for the brand and Junghans ensured that the watches were at the cutting edge of technology. Max Bill is one of Europe’s greatest timepiece designers. He constantly strove for clarity and precision in his designs. Today these same values are still evident and underpin the entire Max Bill collection from Junghans.

Case, Dial, Strap

Firstly, the Max Bill Quartz has a 32.7mm stainless steel case. Secondly, a large dial opening enables you to see less of the bezel and more of the dial. Since the time is the most important feature of any watch, Max Bill deliberately pared the case back to it’s simplest form. Furthermore, the case size is on the large side for a women’s watch. This is very much on-trend and enables easy reading at a glance.

A domed hard plexiglass accentuates the historical charm of the watch. Additionally, it is coated with sicralan to ensure scratch-resistance. Furthermore, the minimalist dial is matt silver-plated in a soft white finish with the rounded typography created specially by Max Bill which gives the watch its iconic look. The hours are printed in dark grey and are arranged around the centre of the dial with the printed minute track around the outer edge.

The hands are deliberately slim, designed with functionality and accuracy in mind. To ensure precision, the pointed end of the minute hand lines up exactly with the printed minute track. The hour and minute hands as well as the quarter markers on the typographical dial are coated with a luminous Super-Luminova substance. This ensures the dial can be read in dim light.

Finally, a green textile strap made from recycled PET bottles completes the contemporary look. With eco-friendly credentials, a stainless steel pin buckle secures it to the wrist.
