Oris Big Crown X Cervo Volante Blue Dial Watch

The Oris Big Crown X Cervo Volante Blue Dial Watch is one of a trio of watches launched in collaboration with sustainable leather manufacturer Cervo Volante. As part of their continued commitment to make environmental “change for the better”, Oris is partnering with this relatively young company to create straps made from sustainable deer leather. Best of all, it is not a limited edition but will continue in the core collection for as long as there is demand.

The popular Big Crown Pointer Date aviation watch is the basis for this first Cervo Volante collaboration. The three models have graded dials inspired by Alpine hues. This version has a blue dial. View the green and grey dial versions here.

Case, Dial, Date, Crystal

Firstly, the stainless steel case is a functional 38mm in diameter with the Pointer Date’s distinctive fluted edge bezel. Secondly, the dial is in blue which, along with the cathedral style hands, adds an elegant touch. Also, it has bold, arabic figures and hour markers. Along with the hands, these are coated in superluminova for legibility in poor light. Additionally, a traditional railroad minute track ensures the dial is easy to read. Furthermore, the pointer date hand has a blue tip and points to the date at the extreme edge of the dial. Finally, the sapphire crystal is domed on both sides. An anti-reflective coating on the inside reduces glare for better legibility in the cockpit.

Movement, Water Resistance, Caseback, Strap

Equipped with a precision Oris 754 automatic movement, the Big Crown X Cervo Volante Watch has a 38 hour power reserve. In addition it is water resistant to 5 bars (50m) and has a large easy grip screw-down crown. This is oversized to allow for use when wearing gloves. Similarly, the see-through caseback also screws-in and allows a fantastic view of the movement in action. Finally, the light brown leather strap is deliberately plain with no stitching.
