Arita Porcelain

Arita, a small town on Kyushu, the third largest island in southwest Japan, first came to prominence in the 17th century when clay suitable for porcelain manufacture was discovered there. Porcelain products from Arita became highly prized throughout Japan for the high quality of their artistry. Today, Arita porcelain is still highly sought after and the industry continues to thrive in the town.

Presage dial

For Arita porcelain to be used for a dial in a Presage watch, a new type of Arita porcelain was developed which is four times harder than the usual material. In addition, the colour of the dials also respect the heritage of Arita porcelain: white with a hint of blue. Finally, Roman numerals give the watch a vintage look and a minute track ensures legibility. The gently curved hands are in a beautiful blued finish and follow the contours of the sapphire crystal.

Movement and strap

Equipped with an automatic 6R27 calibre movement, the Seiko Presage Arita Porcelain Watch has a power reserve display at the 9 o’clock position. A date indicator display is at 6 o’clock. The 40.6mm case is in stainless steel and has a see-through caseback so that the intricacies of the movement can be appreciated. To complement the case, the elegant strap is in brown crocodile leather with stitched sides and has a deployment buckle for security.
