Seiko Presage Sharp Edged Series

The Seiko Presage Sharp Edged Series introduces an angular style to the Presage collection. Since time immemorial, simplicity has been at the heart of the Japanese sense of beauty. To create objects or images of refinement and grace with few elements and no extraneous decoration has long been an aim of many Japanese craftsmen and artists. It is this aesthetic that lies at the heart of this important new series within the Presage collection.

Case, Bracelet

Firstly, with a 39.3mm diameter, the case incorporates many flat surfaces that have a modern sharpness. These allow the watch to shine and sparkle from every angle. Secondly, both the case and bracelet have a super-hard coating that protect them from scratches but which also endows them with a long-lasting brilliance. Additionally, both the case and bracelet have contrasting polished surfaces and subtle brushed hairline surfaces to create a multi-dimensional effect.

White Dial

The white dial incorporates a Japanese Asanoha or hemp leaf pattern, familiar in Japanese culture for its use in design since the Heian period over a thousand years ago. The Asanoha leaf was traditionally used as material for fabrics and the pattern holds a special importance in Japanese culture as it symbolizes rapid, strong growth and was thought to bring good health, especially to the young. The rich texture and intricacy of the dial’s sharply edged geometric pattern create a subtle colour gradation as they play with the light at different angles. The traditional Japanese shade of Shironeri, an unbleached silky white, is represented by the white dial (see blue dial version here). Additionally, a date indicator at 3 o’clock is a useful feature. Furthermore, the chiselled hour indexes reflect both the silhouette and the finish of the case and bracelet. Finally, a folding clasp secures it to the wrist.

Movement

Equipped with an automatic calibre 6R35 movement, this Seiko Presage Watch has a power reserve of up to 70 hours. Additionally, it is also possible to manually wind it and you can feel the strong torque of the winding mechanism when you grip the crown. Furthermore, a see-through caseback enables the intricacies of the movement to be appreciated. Additionally, the watch is water resistant to 10 bars (100m) and has an anti-reflective sapphire crystal.
