Seiko Prospex 4R Black ‘Shog-urai’ Diver

The Seiko Prospex 4R Black ‘Shog-urai’ Diver continues the Seiko heritage of innovation and design evolution. A new introduction from Prospex, it’s an entirely new diver’s watch, evolved from a combination of two popular Seiko designs. Nicknamed by fans for their unique case shapes, the ‘Samurai’ and ‘Shogun’ designs are popular Seiko models which are angular in shape and instantly recognisable. The new ‘Samurai’ inspired 4R Diver hybrid takes elements from both heritage designs, as well as adding modernised features.

Shog-urai Case

Aesthetically, the new Seiko Prospex 4R Black ‘Shog-urai’ Diver model takes the steep angled lugs of the Shogun, razor-sharp as if modelled by a Samurai sword, and echoes the crown design of the Samurai model with the straight contours of both blueprints. In terms of size, this piece has a compact 41.7mm diameter case and slim design for comfortable wearability. Additionally, it has new sharp design features such as a date window at 4.5 o’clock, pointed hands, and a newly shaped bracelet.

Black Dial

The black dial has high-visibility hour markers and hands coated in Lumibrite to also make it easy to see in dim light. Furthermore, a legible minute track is also at the extreme edge of the dial. Moreover, the dial is surrounded by a uni-directional turning bezel.

Bracelet, Crown & Movement

The practical stainless steel bracelet has a secure folding clasp. An extender ensures it can fit over a dive suit. Furthermore, the substantial screw-down crown has a ridged pattern for improved grip. Moreover, the watch has a hardlex crystal.
