Seiko Prospex Automatic Chronograph “Panda” 50th Anniversary Limited Edition
This Seiko Prospex Automatic Chronograph is a Limited Edition of 1,000 pieces which celebrates a milestone in Seiko’s history. In 1969 the brand released calibre 6139: one of the world’s first automatic chronographs with a column wheel and vertical clutch.
Based on a design from that era nicknamed the “Panda”, thanks to it’s two black sub-dials against a light dial, the new model shares many details with the original. These include the same hands with orange tip to the second hand, the brushed finish on the dial and the tachymeter markings and hour indexes. The two black chronograph sub-dials as seen on the original are joined by a third dial in silver with running seconds.
Movement & case
Equipped with an automatic movement calibre 8R48, the watch has a power reserve of approx. 45 hours. It is also accurate to + 25 to -15 seconds per day. The intricacies of the movement can be viewed through the exhibition caseback which is engraved with the serial number.
Crafted from stainless steel, the 41mm case features zaratsu polishing and has a box-shaped sapphire crystal. A solid link bracelet completes the line-up and has a folding clasp with push button release.
