Seiko Prospex Black Series 1965 Re-interpretation 2022

This Seiko Prospex Black Series 1965 Re-interpretation is a Limited Edition of just 5,500 pieces. Now in its fourth year of limited edition release, the popular Black Series takes its inspiration from  the mysterious world of night diving. The 2022 Series has its roots in three key moments from Seiko’s diving heritage – 1965, 1968 and 1970. This particular design is a modern version of the 1965 timepiece.

1965

In 1965 Seiko introduced its first ever diver’s watch. With an automatic movement and water resistance to 150m, it proved its reliability in the harshest conditions when used by the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition from 1966 to 1969.

Case, Dial, Strap

Firstly, water resistant to 200 m/660 ft the slim-profile 40.5mm case is in black stainless steel. Secondly, the black dial has high-visibility hour markers and hands coated in Lumibrite. Also, the minute hand and part of the bezel are orange, the colour of night divers’ lamps. Additionally, a legible minute track is at the extreme edge of the dial. Furthermore, a uni-directional turning bezel surrounds the dial. Furthermore, the watch is fitted with Seiko’s first ever original nylon strap for diver’s watches, the ‘SEICHU.” Made in Japan with a traditional texture pattern following the intricate design of Kimono belts, the strap is specifically designed for diving flexibility and durability. Finally, an additional black silicone strap is supplied with the watch.
