Seiko Prospex “Glacier” Limited Edition

The Seiko Prospex “Glacier” Limited Edition marks the 55th anniversary of Japan’s very first diving watch. Created by Seiko, it became the benchmark for all subsequent dive watches. The Limited Edition is a recreation of the 1965 Diver’s Watch. Inspired by Seiko’s links to Antarctica, it is a Limited Edition of 1,700 pieces worldwide. Indeed, since 1966, Seiko dive watches have been put to the test in extreme conditions four times by Japanese Antarctic Research Expeditions.

Case, Dial, Bracelet

Firstly, the marine blue dial and black strap colour signify the unforgiving seas of Antarctica. Secondly, the hairline finish on the front and the sides of the case represent a shimmering glacier. Additionally, in a 2020 watch industry first, the grade of stainless steel in the case is Seiko’s “Ever-Brilliant Steel”. This is more corrosion-resistant than in most luxury watches today. Consequently, it is usually only used in the marine industry. Finally, the black silicone strap is durable and comfortable.

Automatic Movement

Equipped with an automatic 8L35 calibre movement, the “Glacier” has a power reserve of 50 hours. Additionally it is accurate to +15 to – 10 seconds per day and is water resistant to 200m.
