This Seiko Prospex “Tuna” Black Series Watch is a Limited Edition of just 5,000 pieces. Very popular since its inception and now in its third year of limited edition release, Seiko Prospex Black Series was originally inspired by the mysterious world of night diving. The 2021 collection is a trio of Seiko’s signature designs, incorporating a ‘Monster,’ ‘Tuna,’ and ‘Samurai’ – nicknames invented by Seiko fans for their shapes and looks.
This specific watch is named the ‘Tuna’ by Seiko fans – because of its larger diameter and bold shape like a tuna tin – loved for decades since its release.
Case, Dial, Bracelet
With an imposing 46.7mm diameter case in black coated stainless steel, the watch is designed with high visibility in mind. Firstly, the orange high-visibility hour markers and hands coated in Lumibrite make the dial legible and easy to read under water.
Secondly, a uni-directional bezel surrounds the dial with bold, indices in Lumibrite. Furthermore, the black silicone strap is durable and practical. Finally, a date indicator at 4 o’clock is a useful addition.
Water resistant to 200 m/660 ft, the “Tuna” has a screw caseback. Additionally, it has a screw-down crown which is located at 4 o’clock for safety reasons when diving. Equipped with a solar movement, it charges from natural and electric light. Moreover, it operates for approx. 10 months when fully charged.
