Seiko Prospex “Willard” Automatic Divers Watch

The Seiko Prospex “Willard” Automatic Divers Watch is a recreation of the famous 1970 Turtle Diver’s Watch: the Seiko 6105. Nicknamed the “Willard”, it was the model worn by Martin Sheen for his portrayal of Captain Willard in Apocalypse Now. Consequently, the watch became popular amongst American troops and those needing an exceptionally strong timepiece. Making a second return appearance (the first time was in the form of the SLA033), this is a reinterpretation of the original using modern technology and materials.

Case, Dial, Strap

Firstly, the smaller 42.7mm case size makes the modern “Willard” an even more comfortable size. Secondly, an increased power reserve of 70 hours is a further improvement on the original 1970 model. Additionally the unique location of the crown at 4 o’clock and the protection of the crown afforded by an extension of the case remain unique features of this watch. Furthermore, the “Willard” has a khaki green dial with high visibility hour markers and hands. Similarly, the uni-directional elapsed time bezel is also in the same khaki green. Additionally, a curved sapphire crystal protects the dial and an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface aids visibility. Finally, a black silicone strap with three-fold clasp secures the watch to the wrist.

Movement

Equipped with an automatic 6R35 calibre movement, the “Willard” is accurate to +25 to -15 seconds per day and is water resistant to 200m.
