S.T. Hopper

S.T. Hopper Jewellers have been trading in Boston, Lincolnshire for almost a century. Now in the hands of the third generation of the Hopper family, this business has a fascinating history. The founder, Stanley T. Hopper was an accomplished watch and clockmaker. When World War II broke out his skills were put to better use by the War Office. Consequently, he was trained to make and repair aircraft instruments for the RAF. As demand grew, Hopper secretly opened up workshop space above his shop in Strait Bargate. He trained and employed up to 30 ladies to make, repair and setup the aircraft instruments that would eventually see British pilots emerge triumphant in the skies over Europe. In 1968 the business moved to a new location in Market Place where it can still be found to this day. Today, Hoppers Jewellers is run by brothers Tim and James Hopper, the grandsons of the founder. Still with a strong emphasis on watches, expect to find brands including Alpina, Tissot, Ball, Garmin, Michel Herbelin and Frederique Constant as well as pre-owned luxury timepieces.
